WEF Awards $74,000 to Wellesley Public Schools in Spring 2013 Grant Cycle
WEF is pleased to award $74,000 in Spring 2013 grants to benefit the Wellesley Public Schools. As part of its semiannual cycle of awards, grants were awarded to Wellesley High School, Wellesley Middle School and several elementary schools. District-wide, WEF is pleased to award a grant that will update all the elementary school libraries with new social studies texts . A complete listing of the grants can be found here.
WEF funds grant to Wellesley Public School for continuation of 1:1 Technology Pilot
The WEF board voted unanimously to approve funding of $70,000 towards the expansion of a 1:1 technology pilot for all 5th grade classrooms in Wellesley Public Schools. The $70,000 in funding from WEF will go towards purchasing iPad devices for 69 faculty members, including classroom teachers, special educators, curriculum specialists, administrators, and special subject teachers. Additionally, WEF’s funding will cover the cost of a Summer Professional Development Institute where faculty members and WPS Instructional Technology Specialists will collaborate to create curriculum and lesson plans leveraging the capabilities of the iPad devices.
